Born in Chengdu in 1976, NewLiu graduated from the Art Education of Chinese Painting Department of Southwest University. In his 30s, he stumbled across indie comics. After that, he tried to draw comics and found his own approach. While working full-time, he used his spare time to start a long career making comics.

He likes to study dreams and analyze the subconsciousness behind them, and the comics he creates almost all alternate between dreams and reality. He prefers to avoid referring to photos when drawing comics, especially the scenes, and focuses on depicting the details of fantasy and memory without being disturbed by reality.

From 2015 to 2020, he self-published several short comics, including the long comic "Lee and Me."
